This original oil painting by Brent, "The Settler", is appearing on the cover of an anthology of writings about the Territorial Period of New Mexico history (1848 - 1912). The book is titled "Sunshine and Shadows in New Mexico's Past", is edited by Richard Melzer, and is published by Rio Grande Books in collaboration with the Historical Society of New Mexico.
